On October 22, 1949, in LaTortue, Binquette, there was joy in the air. A precious baby boy by the name of Verneus Michel was born. He was the second child of proud parents Cineus Michel and Theline Francois. He was a very respectful young man. He received his primary education in Haiti as well.
In 1973, he left the country that he loved so much to find a better life for himself and the family that he left behind. He ended up in Bahamas on the beautiful island of Nassau. He was a farmer/cultivator during his time in the Caribbean. He knew what a hard days work was all about. Through his journeys, he had three children: Olince Michel of Haiti, Francilien Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, and Alfred Michel of Nassau, Bahamas. Soon after his last born son, he left Bahamas and Verneus finally made it to his destination, The United States of America.
In 1989, after his arrival, he reunited with his love, Remilia Gustave. They said their “I-Do’s” in the House of the Lord on February 28, 1991. From this union, Verneus shared the responsibilities of parenthood with his wife and they called Dania Beach, Florida their home. His step-children, Islande Gustave of Nassau, Bahamas, Wilney Louis of Immokalee, Florida and Rosemary Louis of Immokalee, Florida loved him dearly. He was a wonderful father. “Spankings” were not even in his vocabulary. He was exposed to various work experiences which included his last occupation as a construction worker.
His time on Earth came to a sudden halt on September 13, 2006. His deeds were done. He leaves behind many loved ones to remember him for who he was:
His loving and devoted Wife Remilia Michel; his beautiful Mother Theline Francois; his Other half Myrtha Belony; Children Jahkyra Belony; Olince, Matilia, Claudia and Francilien Michel; Landrell Anthony Rahming and Lens Jhymy Guerrier; Step-children Islande Gustave, Wilney and Rosemary Louis; God daughter Jahsauni Lake; an Aunt Tribule Michel, Eight sisters Cinesia Frederick and Saintelia Michel in Miami, Lavanie Michel, Cinelia Michel, Louisianne Charles, Nelia Michel, Nellie Calixte, and Rosemene Calixte whom all reside in Haiti. He also had Two brothers Exante and Francelus Michel from Haiti. He also leaves behind his precious Grand-children Aaliyah Michel, Amari Michel, Isaiah Dorest, Ishiah Dorest, Akeria Dorest, as well as a few other grand children in the Islands. Nephews and nieces Gerry, Gertrude, Gedeus, Gerphonée, Genevieve, Gemayrel and Gregory Fredèrick, Keisha Ilfied, Monique Michel, Patrick, Marylyn and Marquise Mura, Ashley and Jasson Claude, Karmoni Smith, Aliya Michel, Omari Michel, Wilfrid Noralus, Dion Dirosier and Pamiko Michel; Brother-in-laws Geffrard Fredèrick, Durogène, Charite et Cedrick; He was a man who always had time to lend a helping hand.
