Beenwood Josil was born on September 5, 1981, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Jean Nelio Josil (deceased) and Velouse Josil. From her earliest days, Beenwood carried within her a quiet strength and a heart of deep compassion.
At the age of 15, she journeyed to the United States in February 1996, embracing a new chapter in South Florida. She attended William H. Turner Technical High School and later studied at Broward Community College, always striving to better herself. Eventually, she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she built a life marked by devotion, simplicity, and care.
Beenwood accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and held fast to her faith throughout her life. She openly affirmed to her family her trust in the Word of God, which remained her comfort and anchor through every season.
She had a deep love for music, and those closest to her can fondly recall her spontaneous singing and dancing sessions—often in front of a mirror, with a comb or hairbrush in hand—just before disappearing into one of her famously long showers. These moments of joy captured her playful spirit and zest for life.
A kind and generous soul, Beenwood extended special love to her nieces and nephews. Whether by thoughtful gifts or gentle words, she always sought ways to make them feel cherished. As a single mother, she poured her strength, love, and sacrifices into raising her son, Kevin Constantin, ensuring he was protected, provided for, and deeply loved. Her devotion to her family, especially her children, was unwavering.
Though she quietly bore the weight of illness for years, she faced her eventual diagnosis—a brain tumor—with courage and quiet endurance. Her life, though taken too soon, remains a testimony of faith, maternal strength, and selfless love.
Beenwood leaves behind a legacy of affection and quiet resilience. She is survived by her beloved son Kevin Constantin, stepdaughter Laury Constantin, and their father Wilkens; her loving mother Velouse Josil; her devoted siblings: Newood, Woodlyn, Woodstanley, Woodbens, Woodkedler, Beverlywood, and Motanwood; her sisters-in-law Thaina, Marie Eva, Elda, Daniella and Neury; her brother-in-law Gerard Theodore; and her many cherished nieces and nephews: Brian, Newna, Jerry, Ashton, Sarah, Jayden, Jonathan, Christopher, Christian, Sebastian, Emma-Grace, Gabriel and Giana Amaya.
She will also be deeply missed by her godmother Armelle Brice, dear cousins and friends including Serge, Guerline, Nancy, Dina, Phara Jean Brice, Freddy, Livita, her high school friend Katherine; the Joseph Family, the Desarmes Family, the Phillip family; and numerous relatives and friends both in the US and Haiti.
Though her voice is now silent, her love still sings in the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing, and may her soul rest in eternal peace.
