Brenda Mayers Kelly

Brenda was born on October 12, 1952 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to Lealather and Annie Mae Mayers. She was 1 of 9 children to them. Brenda resided in South Carolina until her early 20’s. From there she moved to NY where some of her sisters already lived. She worked at Bellsouth, telephone company for several years and met her husband at a local gas station. She was married to Lionel Kelly for over 40 years (before his passing on 01/10/24), and together they built a life centered on family and faith. They moved to sunny South Florida in 1991 and this is where she raised her family. A woman of warmth and resilience, Brenda’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and unwavering strength.

Brenda was the proud mother of Shantel and E’lon, whose lives she enriched with her guidance and unconditional love. Her spirit lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Victoria and Zinnya, who brought immense joy to her heart.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Brenda Mayers Kelly, who left us on August 1, 2025, peaceful in her home at age 72.

She is survived by her loving siblings: sisters - Lou, Mae, Vernata, and brother Hercules. Brenda’s life touched countless others, leaving a legacy embraced by many family members and friends who will forever remember her kindness, wisdom, and sharp tongue.

Though Brenda has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were blessed to know her.
