Christiane Attis

Christiane Attis was born on August 20, 1947, in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, to the late Bishop Jonas Ganthier and the late Odette Ganthier. She was the eldest of twelve children and was raised in a devoted Christian home that deeply shaped her life of faith and service.

Christiane received her education in several respected Christian schools in Haiti:

1953–1963: École des Filles de la Sagesse (Primary School)

1964–1967: Collège Cœur Immaculé de Marie (Secondary School)

1967–1969: École Ménagère des Sœurs Élie du Bois

In December 1969, Christiane married her soulmate, Oreston Attis. Shortly after their wedding, Oreston emigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York. Their first son, Lowinsky, was born a year later. During that time, Christiane attended the Haute Couture School (1969–1970), where she nurtured her love for design and craftsmanship.

In April 1971, Christiane joined her husband in Brooklyn, New York, where together they worked diligently to build a beautiful life and family. Blessed with four children, Christiane and Oreston dedicated their home and hearts to God’s service. Their commitment to ministry led them to become pioneers of the French Baptist Church of Far Rockaway, where they served faithfully for many years.

Always valuing education and personal growth, Christiane returned to school in 1986 and earned her Associate Degree from Taylor Business Institute. She later worked for  Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she built a successful career until her retirement. Upon retirement, she and Oreston relocated to Orlando, Florida, where they continued to labor faithfully in the work of the Lord.

In 2017, her beloved husband Oreston Attis was called home to be with the Lord. After his passing, Christiane eventually returned to New York with the help and loving care of her daughter, Rebecca, for medical reasons.

In December 2022, Christiane became a resident of Bay Vista Rehabilitation Center in Long Beach, New York, following her discharge from the hospital. She quickly grew fond of the community and chose to remain there. The staff and all who visited her can testify to the joy, peace, and gratitude she radiated during her final years.

Christiane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oreston Attis.
