Clereda Fabre was born on December 29, 1933 in Ravine Sabre, Lazile, Haiti. Clereda was raised by her father, Lafortune Fabre and mother Clemina Labady. She was the youngest sibling to Clesimene Fabre, Clerelize Fabre, and her only brother, Edner Fabre. In her later years, Clereda gave birth to Presnel Laborde, Naomie Laborde (deceased), Frantz Laborde (married to Yverose Jean), Elco Laborde (married to Nirva Joseph), Yolane Laborde-Volcy (married to Hilaire Volcy) Magareth Fabre (married to Althony Pochette). She also raised Clermode Fabre (married to Ernso Phebe). Clereda’s grandchildren are Tatiana Laborde (married to Jerry Merilus), Son Son Laborde, Ishmael Ted Laborde, Ismael Fred Laborde, Neyssa Laborde, Christmy Laborde, Coralie Laborde, Lynn Laborde, Lindsey Laborde, Ashlie Louis (married to Milson Louis), Nathan Volcy, Kareen Volcy, Kettia Cherubin, Alex Pochette, Terry Pochette, and Shaiina Pochette. With only 3 great grandchildren, Reign Louis, Kaiden Volcy, and Jeeferson Laborde, Clereda was always surrounded with love, support, and kindness.
Her favorite thing to do in Haiti was to cook for weddings. In fact, she was the chef that everyone went to in order to have the best dish at their wedding. Clereda also loved her garden and tending to her animals. She loved being sociable. She loved being surrounded by family, friends, and anyone with a smile. Clereda was able to come and stay in the United States since 2010. At first, it was an adjustment for her. But, once she realized that she was always surrounded by her grandchildren, she grew to love her new environment. Her best friend, Zelima, would call her every Monday morning to talk. Despite her life changes, Clereda never stopped being a warrior of God. Clereda had a routine of reading her Bible daily and singing her songs from the Chant D’esperance. She prayed regularly and even in her final days, when she didn’t have the energy to speak, she was whispering to God. Her confidence and discipline in God was her identity and she was never ashamed to sing His praise. Clereda was and will always be loved.
