Brothers, sisters, friends, cousins from all over, we gather today to celebrate the life of someone close to us: Jean Frèd Desire “Fedno” “Ti Fed”
Who was Jean Frèd Desiré?
Jean Frèd was the son of Auriel Désiré and Isma Francique Désiré. He was born on Saturday, March 31, 1973, in Mahotière, Gressier Haiti. He was the 3rd oldest of the family of 5(Roland, Maguy, Frèd, Irma, Violette).
When Frèd was 3 years old, he went to live with our Grandparents Christine Roc and Anozy Francique in Ti-Boukan, where he was loved very much. Two years later, the family moved to the capital so that little Fedno could get an education. He was a very calm, and smart boy. He transformed whatever he could put his hands on. He specialized in fabricating toy cars, and radios.
Little Fedno attended Salesiens of Don Bosco for pre-school, then he went to finish his high school at Alexandre Pétion. After Graduated High School, Fedno spent a year in the faculty of medicine and pharmacy at UEH, then he went to CHIMTECH to complete his Chemistry Degree.
In 2001 Fedno left Haiti to come the United States where our cousin Bazile received him with open arms. After Miami, he went to Orlando where he became an excellent barber. Then he went to pursuit a career in plumbing, a profession he loved very much.
In 2007 Fedno married Marie Glona Laguerre. At the end of 2007, the couple moved to Montreal, Canada where they had a son (Handjy) who is now 15 years old. After 2 years of
marriage, the couple separated. In 2013 Fedno moved to Gatineau where he met Mirline. The couple said ‘I DO” not long after. Unfortunately, the union did not last long.
Fedno was a great man. Through good and bad times, he continued to work as a plumber, and continued to support his son Handjy, whom he loved dearly. Fedno was very private, but whenever we spent time with him, he made sure we had a great time. He enjoyed bringing us back to Ti Boukan by telling old time stories and things that happened there long before our time.
Fedno loved his mother Isma very much and considered his younger sister Irma as his daughter; Violette and Olibrice as great partners; Michou, Titi, Chantale and Doune madam Levain were cousins who he loved very much. He was always talking about them.
Our cousin Basile was his role model, but alas …….
In January 2024, Fedno left us. He passed peacefully in his home.
