We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of a man whose presence was a true gift to all who knew him—Mr. Joseph M. Jean-Simon. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, they are equally filled with gratitude for the 68 remarkable years Joseph lived among us, and for the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
Joseph was born on December 9, 1956, in Les Cayes, Haiti, to his father Destene Jean-Simon and his mother Yvonne Delcat. He was united in marriage to Marie Yolette Raymond, and together they built a beautiful family with four children. In 2019, Joseph left Haiti and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in pursuit of better opportunities for himself and his beloved wife.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather—a man of dignity, strength, and unwavering dedication. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, always putting them first, ensuring their well-being, safety, and unity. He embodied what it means to be the head of a household—their protector, their guide, their hero.
Beyond his responsibilities, Joseph carried a vibrant spirit. He loved traveling, spending time with his family, enjoying good food, and especially working on his cars. He lived with purpose and determination, accomplishing whatever he set his mind to. Fearless, humorous, and wise, Joseph was a natural teacher whose lessons will echo across generations.
Dad, though you are no longer with us physically, your memory will forever remain engraved in our hearts. You were a father, a grandfather, and a role model many could only hope for. This is not goodbye. As believers, we know that death is not the end. You were a leader, a soldier, a brave man, and we will never stop loving you.
May you rest in everlasting peace.
Joseph passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at around 2:40 AM at the Hospice Home. He is survived by his loving wife: Marie Y. Raymond Jean-Simon.
