Leonel Bertilien

Leonel Bertilien was born on November 9, 1970, in Port-Margot, Haiti, to Yvette Bertilien and Tervilus Bertilien. As the eldest of five children, he embraced responsibility from an early age, demonstrating the character, resilience, and compassion that would define his life.

After completing his education in Haiti, Leonel immigrated to Nassau, Bahamas, in 1992, where he resided for two years. In 1994, driven by a desire to build a brighter future, Leonel decided to immigrate to the United States in hopes of greater opportunities and to support his family in Haiti.

During his first years in America, Leonel lived in South Florida, where his unwavering determination, strong work ethic, and selfless devotion to his community and those he loved became the foundation of the life he built. In November 1999, he welcomed his first daughter, Christine Bertilien. Shortly after, Leonel’s efforts to immigrate his sisters were successful, and his sisters Woodline and Miranta joined him in South Florida in January 2000.

In 2002, after reconnecting with an old friend from his church, Ghislaine, he decided to propose, and the pair later got married in April 2003. The newlyweds left South Florida for Palm Bay after getting married. In 2004, Leonel welcomed his second child, Stanley Bertilien, and in 2006, his third, Tanisha Bertilien. Never content to stop growing, Leonel decided to pursue entrepreneurship and founded Coraille Auto Sales in 2010. A respected business that focused on buying, repairing, and selling vehicles.

In 2016, Leonel decided to shift into the trucking business. Leonel had long enjoyed being a CDL driver, and this time, he decided to continue using his talent under his own business. In 2018, he welcomed his final child, Ethan Bertilien. Above all his professional accomplishments, Leonel treasured his role as a husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was deeply devoted to his family, faithfully providing, protecting, and leading with quiet strength and unconditional love. His children eagerly anticipated each homecoming, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with their father.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Ghislaine Bertilien; his beloved children, Christine, Stanley, Tanisha, and Ethan Bertilien; his loving parents, Yvette Bertilien and Tervilus Bertilien; his brother, Arnold Bertilien; his sisters, Woodline Michel, Miranta Bertilien, and Magdaline Bertilien; as well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

While our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in the lasting impact of a life faithfully lived. Leonel’s love, unwavering dedication to his family, quiet strength, and compassionate spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.

Leonel’s life stands as a testimony to perseverance, integrity, faith, and sacrificial love. Throughout his life, Leonel continued to provide aid to those in need and being present in the community. His legacy will continue to inspire his family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his presence.
