Lionel J. Kelly

Lionel Jean Kelly, age 79 passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024 at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1944 in Port Au Prince, Haiti to Joseph N. Kelly and Premilia M. Remy. Lionel moved to New York with his family in the 1970s. This is where he met his wife, Brenda Mayers. Married in July 1980, Lionel and Brenda remained in New York briefly and moved to sunny Miami, Florida with their two children Shantel and E’lon. Lionel then obtained a career in maintenance/custodial work at Miami-Dade College. “Kelly” as his co- workers called him retired after 22 years of service. During his leisure time Kelly enjoyed watching game shows, such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Family Fued. As he got older his sweet tooth grew. Kelly was known for sneaking his fair share of desserts. Lionel is survived by his beloved Wife, Brenda Kelly; Children, Nicholson (Jennifer), Shantel (Kevin) and E’lon. Reginald Paul (godson). Siblings, Yvrose, Jocelyne, Rodrigue and Carmel. Grandchildren, Victoria, Zinnya, Brie, Kamren, and Hudson. In addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. He will truly be forever missed. Until we meet again. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
