Luc Germain

Luc Serge Germain, affectionately known as “Sergo,” was born on March 20, 1946, in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, to the late Lucien Serge Germain and Madelaine Icard. Raised by his beloved paternal grandmother, Mama Taya, Sergo developed the strength, wisdom, and leadership qualities that would define his life.

From an early age, Sergo pursued education with diligence and faith. He attended Chez Les Frères Institution, a Christian school. He later graduated from Max Penette School and completed his secondary education at Lycée National de Pétion-Ville. Sergo continued his academic journey at Le Roche Business School, where he studied accounting, pursuing a dream rooted in service and excellence.

In 1966, Sergo gave his life to the Lord—a commitment that would shape every aspect of his life. He was deeply involved in the Haitian community and constantly put others before himself. His quiet strength, compassionate leadership, and unwavering faith made him a pillar in the lives of many.

Sergo served faithfully at Assemblée Chrétienne, under the leadership of Pastor Edouard Doyen. There, he was the Director of Sunday School, a dedicated servant leader, and a gifted songwriter and choir director. In 1972, Sergo married Marie Marthe Doyen and together, they had two sons Joel (Gilo) and Jean (Marco)—and later welcomed their daughter Joan (Mammy Jo) after relocating to the United States in the mid-1970s.

After settling in New York, Sergo became a devoted member of Good Shepherd Church, where he once again took on the role of Sunday School leader. He later served at a church in Clermont for many years. During this time, he worked as a social worker for the New York Department of State, providing vital support to countless families in need.

In 1987, Sergo and his family moved to Florida, where he began a 20-year career with the Florida Department of Health. He also became a cherished member of the Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent. Sergo was widely known for his creativity—he wrote and directed numerous sold-out plays, often casting his family and church community in lead roles.

Sergo was deeply committed to his childrens education, consistently emphasizing the importance of learning, and ensuring they understood its value. He actively participated in their school activities and held prestigious roles within the school system, demonstrating strong parental involvement that benefits student achievement and social skills.

Sergo, retired from the Orlando Department of Health, met his wife Lulianne Casimir in the summer of 2009. They began their loving relationship in 2012 and were married in 2013. Together, Sergo and Lulianne shared a full life filled with wonderful memories. Lulianne remained by his side until his final breath.

Sergo leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lulianne Casimir; his children: Joel S. Germain, Jean M. Germain, and Joan M. Conley; his daughter-in-law, Natalie Germain; future daughter-in-law, Shara Lindsay; his son-in-law, Richard Conley and his step-son, Wendy Wladimir Casimir (wife Cassandre). He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald (wife Jocelyne) and Mario (wife Eveline); his sisters, Edith, Judith, Yolene (husband Sammy), Carole (husband Reynald), Viola Bazile; and he is preceded in death by his sister Sabine. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: NyAsia Ragland, (husband Rashad) NyAhnni Germain, preceded in death by his grandson Jephte Germain-Rogers, Jalen Bonannee, Jonas Bonannee; Jalen Campbell, Dallas Jones, Jakel Burden and Jaylin Burden; his great-granddaughters, Nalah Ragland and Yoann Casimir. He also leaves behind a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were blessed by his presence. Sergo’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, sacrificial love, and joyful service. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
