Marie Flereus

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 says: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die."

Marie Flereus, daughter of Dora Astra and Noreus Flereus, was born on November 1st, 1928, in Carrefour Trois, Saint Louis du Nord. Marie had four brothers and three sisters and was the second girl in her family.

When she was 21 years old, Marie fell in love with Michel Mithil, and they were married on February 24th, 1949. This blessed union created eight children, 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. During her life, Marie was grateful and joyous to be surrounded by the children and family who loved her so dearly. She often said: "I had eight children, but if I could do it all over again, I'd have 16!"

On Monday, January 8th, 2024, Marie went to join the Lord after 95 years with us on this Earth. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by those who loved her. Marie left behind many grieving children, family members, and loved ones listed below.

Children: Silfina Mithil, Flavie Mithil, Michelien Mithil, Bernadette Mithil, Joseph Mithil, Luciana Mithil, Adrienne Mithil, and Carol Mithil.

Son-in-Laws and Daughter-in-Laws: Georges St Fleur, Gedeon Sylvain, Rosemene Senatus, Michel St Louis, Claudette Johnson/ Charisnord Belozier, Johnson St Fleur, and Immacula Telfort.

Grand-children: Micheline Pierrilien, Wisly Mithil, Wilnive Sylvain, Frisnel Mithil, Jonas & Sony Sylvain, Steve & Mika Mithil, Joann & Maureen & Joey Myrtil, Samuel & Bernard St Louis, Steva Telfort, Scarvensky Mithil, Olwista Louis, Brittney & Brigette Lacroix, James & Jensen & Nika Belozier along with 44 great-grand-children and 4 great-great-grand-children.

Nieces and Nephews: Fosnel & Alisson & Carmilus Mertelus, Mme Michel & Ivener & Michelet & Dieurol & Mackenson Mereus, Jeanne Mithil, Mme Tama Petit Homme, Horat Joseph, Mme Abraham Joseph, Israel Joseph, Emmanuel Joseph, Elisé Timothée, Moliner Timothée, Manius Gustave, Eliphen & Sultane Fils-Aimé, Giovanni Docteur, Marie Joseph and others.

Though we may mourn because we miss her presence and her wit, let us console ourselves and take solace in the hope that a day will come when we reunite in heaven. As our hearts break with sorrow, let us find strength in the Word of Jesus: "In my Father's house there are many mansions...I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (John 14:2-3)
