Merese Altenor, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.
Born on April 29, 1943, in Foison, Haiti, Merese Altenor was the cherished daughter of Clermelie Jean-Francois and Camilus Yacinthe. As the eldest of six siblings, she always exhibited a nurturing and caring spirit, guiding her younger siblings with love and wisdom. She is survived by four of her siblings: Minocal Yacinthe, Lissane Yacinthe, Lumane Yacinthe, and Othnil Yacinthe. She is predeceased by Yvonne Yacinthe.
Merese Altenor was married to her devoted husband, Almonal Moise Altenor, for 49 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family and their church. Almonal Moise Altenor preceded her in death in June 2014, leaving a legacy of love that Merese Altenor carried on.
Merese Altenor was a devoted member of her church, Beracah Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1991, a faithful member of her church choir, and a pillar of her community, Merese Altenor dedicated her life to service. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her contributions to her church and community will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Serge Altenor, Wetzer Altenor, Wilken Altenor, Evans and Modoline Altenor, Wesly and Nessy Altenor, and Herna and Melchoir Cyprien, and nine adored grandchildren, Jeffenie S. Altenor, Gabriella Merese Cyprien, Mekherna M. Cyprien, Giovanni Cyprien, Evans Altenor Jr, Modoline Elizabeth Altenor, Almonal Grayson Altenor, Aleah Altenor, and Warren Liam Altenor, as well as her loving niece and nephew Clauces and Natasha Yacinthe. All her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her immense joy. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the love, guidance, and warmth she provided throughout her life.
