Olivia Jeantilus

Olivia Jeantilus affectionately known as “Oli” and “Grandma”, lived a very beautiful life. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. However short her life may seem to her family; it was definitely not short of accomplishments.

Olivia was born on January 9, 1949. She was the daughter of Mercidieu Jeantilus and Julida Saintcyr. She was born in, Au cayes Haiti. She moved to Port Au Prince (La Plaine) at the age of fourteen-years-old (14) where she lived with her older sister. Olivia was the eighth of nine children born to her parents. As the youngest daughter, she was always caring for her nieces and nephews; an honorable character trait that she carried most of her life.

Gifted by God with a caring and loving attitude, Olivia always had a smile on her face. She wasn’t one to let life keep her down. She often snuffed tobacco in her nose so when the doctor told her to quit, she joked about how she would die anyway so she might as well die happy. Even with the battle of health obstacles, not one day did she ever complain. Instead,she chose to focus on the positive.

Amongst other things, she was a great friend. She spread her joy for life with anyone she met. Her laughter and sense of humor are the things we will miss the most. She was young at heart and always joyful. Olivia was very active in the lives of her two (2) sons. She was passionate about telling her grandchildren stories and happy memories she had while growing up. She really loved food, so she was always cooking to share with others. Through her love of cooking, she expressed her love to her kids, Grandchildren, friends and family.

In February 1996, Olivia Jeantilus moved to the United States with the goal of creating a better life for her two sons. After moving to America, she lived in Miami (little Haiti), where she remained until she passed away. She would work odds job to make ends meet. Although she didn’t speak English she managed to create a beautiful life for her kids and grandchildren. She was the true definition of living life to the fullest; she made every day count.

After living in the United States for twenty-seven (27) years,Olivia made her way to the Heavenly Father in the early morning of January 30, 2024. We know without a doubt that by her standards, she lived a beautiful life and she is now resting in peace. May her soul rest as we continue the legacy she has begun.

Olivia Jeantilus is survived by her Sons: Jocelyn Jeantilus, Ernst Jeantilus;  God Son: Yves Louis;  Grandchildren: James Jeantilus, Jude Jeantilus, Junior Jeantilus and partner, Jailene Jeantilus and Partner, Love Jeantilus, Ernstso Jeantilus, and Partner Tayna Marcelin, Jerry Jeantilus, Christopher Antoine, Jesula Jeantilus, Olivier Jeantilus  Great grandchildren: KalaniJ. Jeantilus, Jrue Frazier, Lucas A. Jeantilus, Jah’Siah J. Jeantilus, Frantz J. Pierre and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members that will miss her dearly.
