Patrick Eveillard

Patrick Eveillard, born on January 03, 1963 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was a man of God and a friend to all. His father, Antoine Chery, was not around to raise him, so his mother Saintrose Eveillard stepped in and did a wonderful job filling in the gap until she passed at the age of 63.

Our dad grew up in a respectable household in Grand-Goave, Haiti, as the only boy alongside his only sister Marie Yolene Rodney. He was very loved and respected by all his peers and colleagues. Eventually, he moved to Port-au-Prince to further his education where he graduated with his high school diploma. During that time, he first lived with his cousin Chamoune, then later with his cousin Marie Yves Saoud and her children in Delmas 33. Understanding that the paganistic environment he grew up in had nothing to offer him, he got converted under the ministry of Pastor Luc Honorat for a while, then while attending Pastor Revolus' church he met the love of his life, Anne Denise Fortius at a fellowship meeting. As a man of great ambitions, he decided to pursue her only to be told by her pastor (Pastor Desrivieres) that he cannot marry a Holy-Ghost filled sister if he himself doesn't have it. Needless to tell you what he did next. For months he sought the Lord, day and night asking to be endued with this power. One night as he knelt down to pray, Jesus baptized him with the Holy Ghost and he became alive to God. He then returned to Pastor Desrivieres and was granted her hand in marriage on September 22, 1990 in Delmas 9 #11, where he began to attend church until he left Haiti in 2002.

As his greatest supporter and a perfect help meet, his wife encouraged him to focus on furthering his education and he went on to study law at the Faculté de Droit, while she worked very hard as a nurse to take care of the family. In 1998 he graduated with a law degree but refusing to litigate in court, he accepted a job as a high school teacher for many years until he left Haiti.

His four children (Rosemica Carly, Rosario Cassagnol, Hans Patrick Kulicke, and Ricardo Patricio Eveillard) grew up in Haiti until August of 2006 when he brought all of them along with his wife to the United States of America by working several blue-collar jobs at once and depriving himself of personal satisfactions, which summarizes who my father was in a nutshell. A selfless man who loved his family dearly and willing to do whatever it takes to protect and provide for them. Not only did he love his wife and biological children, he had a very loving relationship with his children-in-law (Ernso, Sashine, and Adjanie). He did not live very long on this earth by God's design, but everyone knew that his grandchildren were the apple of his eyes and we are so glad he got to see them, hold them and play with them. We will be intentional about keeping his memory alive in the young minds of Rodrick,Fahimy and Scarlett Vincent, Tarrick, Machalie, Varsha, Hendrick and AnaRuth Eveillard. Grandpa will always have a special place in their hearts.

As much as he loved his family, that pales in comparison to the love and zeal he had for God. Once God revealed himself to him, he devoted his entire being to God and never looked back. Toward the end of his earthly life, we all observed him making peace with everyone he felt was at odds with him, saying "I don't want anything to stand between me and my salvation when it's time for me to go". He was a man at peace. He served as a Sunday school teacher, a school principal for the church, a visit team leader, a choir member and everything else that was required of him as an assistant minister.

Besides his immediate family, he was very loved, and many of his friends and family members are present today either in person or virtually to pay homage to him one last time.

To his immediate family, to his cousins (Claudette and her children, Christiana and her children, Fahimy, Nathalie, Stephane, Rachelle, Henry-Claude, Mirithe, Carolle, Mireille), to his nieces and nephews (Lanlande, Ronalde, Tico), to Joslin and all the rest of the family, to his close friends like Lormance, Moncles, Vivianne, Yveline, to his spiritual family here at Sarasota Gospel Temple and all the churches that came to be with us from afar and to the host of other family members and friends that I won't have the time to mention, I wish you all courage, strength, and resilient grace during this solemn moment.

He is no longer with us in the flesh, but the imprint he left on his surroundings will never be erased. Like the bible says, the memory of the just will never perish, not in our minds, nor in the mind of God. He lives forever in all of us.
