In Loving Memory of Murat Pierre Joseph “Jo” Murat Pierre Joseph “Jo” a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 10th, 2023, at the age of 92 at Advent Health Apopka Hospital.

Born to Choisilia Raymond (Ti Pa) and Zavier Joseph on June 28th, 1931, in Source Matelas, Haiti, Murat Pierre Joseph was a beloved member of a large and close-knit family. He grew up alongside many siblings and numerous cousins. Murat Pierre Joseph completed his education in Haiti, which laid the foundation for his lifes journey. He pursued a career as a skilled tailor, showcasing his unique craftsmanship. It was during this time that he met and fell in love with his late wife, Yvette Joseph, whom he married on March 1, 1958.

In search of new opportunities and a better life, Murat Pierre Joseph made a life-changing decision on March 13, 1970, to relocate his family to Chicago. In Chicago, he worked tirelessly at Spiegel Inc., demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication until retirement. In September 2005, he and his beloved wife Yvette relocated once more, this time to Apopka, Florida, to enjoy the peaceful years of their well-deserved retirement.

Murat Pierre Joseph’s unwavering faith in God was an essential part of his life. He was a dedicated prayer warrior whose supplications reflected his deep love for his family and people worldwide. He served as a devoted head deacon for many years at the Chicago Bethlehem French Seventh Day Adventist Church. He continued to serve as a deacon at Guilgal French Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Florida until he was no longer able to do so. Every Sabbath, he would rise early in the morning to open the church doors and set the temperature for the congregation. He warmly welcomed and ushered church members and newcomers alike, ensuring they felt and experienced the love of God. He also diligently helped with the maintenance of the church property.

Beyond his spiritual devotion, Murat Pierre Joseph was an avid walker, frequently strolling through his Apopka neighborhood. His friendly disposition made him well-known and loved by neighbors, and even when he remained indoors, he engaged in his indoor walks. Murat Pierre Joseph’s remarkable memory allowed him to recall every detail about his friends and family, a testament to his caring and attentive nature.

Murat Pierre Joseph was the cherished patriarch of the Joseph family, revered for his unwavering steadfastness, reliability, and commitment to his family and late wife. He was a great provider, a pillar of strength, and a man of deep faith.

Murat Pierre Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvette Joseph, in 2021, and his daughter, Nirva Knox, in 1991, as well as his son, Emmanuel Joseph, in 1966. He also joins his siblings, Frankel Joseph, Sylvanie Joseph, Virginie Joseph, Paulius Joseph, Vilius Joseph, and his son-in-law, Anthony Campbell. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Mireille (Louis) Laforest, Eddy (Carolle) Joseph, Colette Leonard, Lucresse (Jean-Antoine) Cayemitte, Ronald Joseph, Marjorie Joseph, Guerline Joseph, and Shirley Joseph. Murat Pierre Joseph’s legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren: Jean Pierre (Kenade) Knox, Nicole Knox, Phoebe Knox, Marcel Laforest, Belinda (Brandon) Carter, Jacob (Christine) Joseph, Isaac Joseph, Esther Leonard, Emmanuel Leonard, Ruth Leonard, Matthew Leonard, Rebecca (Tairik) Leonard, Naomi Leonard, Hannah Leonard, Marc (Suzanne) Cayemitte, Amanda Cayemitte, Boris (Stephanie) Cayemitte, Alain Cayemitte, Maya Cayemitte, Jessica Joseph, Jordany Fleurancois, Nathan Poinsette IV, Kelly Joseph, Kanye Campbell, Nevaeh Campbell, and Faith Campbell. He is also survived by a multitude of great-grandchildren: Arlo Knox, River Knox, Emma Carter, Luke Carter, Noah Carter, Josiah Joseph, Eli Joseph, Mickael Sanders, King Wooden, Dakota Wooden, Malik Adebayo, and Amina Rose Smith-Tweed. Families affected by the loss include the Raymond, Victor, Augustave, Revolus, Sainvilus, and Francois families. Murat Pierre Joseph’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. His love, faith, and dedication have left an indelible mark on his family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those close to him.
