Rosemie Hilaire

Rosemie Hilaire was born on February 17, 1937 in Leogane, Haiti. The beloved daughter of late Gesner Hilaire and Klelie Medor. Her siblings are sisters: Ghislaine, Liliane, Marie, and brothers: Daniel Hilaire, and the late Roldolphe Hilaire. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for serving, helping, advocating, and channeling her energies towards creating positive change, not only in her family but in anyone’s life she came across. She started Prep school in Leogane, Haiti, continued in Port au Prince, a few years later in St. Marc, Haiti. She also went to technical school for sewing and learned much more.

In her 20’s she gave birth to her first child Islande Hilaire, who sadly died at a young age. She met Frank Wallace in the late 60’s and they started a family. They had six children: Daniel, Kendy, Franck, Samuel, Elie, and was blessed with a bonus daughter, Sherly Wallace. Rosemie was a devoted mother, hard worker, loving sister, and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who crossed her path. She had a passion for cooking, enjoyed doing laundry, helping others in need, gardening, and so much more.

Unfortunately, she had to leave Haiti in the 90’s, wanting a better life for her family.  She sadly lost her husband not too long after she came to the U.S.  She did keep her promise to support her family, and others. Years later, she reunited with most of her children in the U.S. Rosemie loved school, she was always taking classes, she was still going to school even in her 70’s, taking English classes. Her resilience has always been remarkable.

She was blessed with a large family, several grandchildren, and even great grandchildren: Dimitri Wallace, Edwina Wallace, Junior Wallace, Courtney Wallace, Patrick Wallace, Christy Wallace, Jayden Wallace, Naella Wallace, Damien Wallace, Brayden Wallace, Samy Wallace, Ricardi Wallace, DianceWallace, Lauren Wallace. Continuing with great grandchildren: Sheiila Wallace, Kayden Wallace, Amalia Wallace, Watch Aneesha Wallace. She was blessed with two more bonus children from Monique and Berthony Andre, Melissa and Bebeto Andre. These last two children were special to her, she loved them dearly and cared for them.  Her daughter in laws- Frida Wallace, Jeanine Marshall, Valerie Wallace, and RoselineFleurancois. Several other close relatives, cousins: Marie Lourdes Laurore (May), Rosemie Vixama (Manman Nine). Including nieces and nephews: Ricardo Laurore, RodolpheHilaire, Yonel Hilaire, Guilaine Hilaire, and several more.

She also loved her church family, Pecheur D’hommes church. She gave her life to Christ in the year 2000 at Maranatha Church in West Palm Beach, and she never looked back, walking with the Lord until He called her home. She was very generous with her time and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. She always has something to offer, especially a warm plate of her home cooking.

Today and always, we honor the life of a wonderful woman. Her connection to the divine was evident in the kindness she showed to others and the strength she found in challenging times. Rosemie passed peacefully from this life on June 30th, 2024, around 1:30 PM at Palm City Nursing and Rehab Facility after a gradual decline in health. She was the heart and soul of the family, and her passing has left us all saddened.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the memories we hold dear and the lessons she taught us all. Rosemie’s legacy of love, giving, serving and compassion will continue to inspire us to be agents of positive change in our family, friends, communities, and to honor her memory by continuing to keep her legacy alive.

Rosemie you were a blessing to us all, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many people. Your spirit will continue to live on in each, and every one of us. Your memories will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share and the love we hold in our hearts.  You are now at peace, no more suffering. Beloved family and friends, may we find comfort in the love she shared with us and carry her lessons forward, keeping her memories alive in our hearts forever.
