Jean Michel Obituary

Jean Benito Michel, 92 years of age, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021 at his home after a long illness.

Jean Benito Michel was born in Port-de-Paix, on March 15, 1929. He was the son of the late Major Michel and Similia Simone. Benito was the fourth child of seven children (Desertlest, Simelien, Ernest, Elisterm, Esterny, and George). Benito grew up in a small city called La-plate, where he learned how to grow crops and make trade. Later in his life he wanted something better for himself, so by the age of 18-year-old he started a career in architecture.

After a few years of being a successful architect, he was lucky enough to have met a beautiful young lady name “Cleremene Petit”, who soon became his fiancé then wife. In addition to Benito and Cleremene union of love they brought six amazing children into the world. (Rosemene, Simelia, Benita, Bertony, Aldo, & Kethlene). Benito and Cleremene soon after professed their life to Christ and started serving the lord. Benito grew a love for working in the church and praising the lord and he did this while raising his family.

But in 1979, Benito moved to the united states in hopes to build a better life for his family and himself. Benito was no lazy man, while in the U.S he made sure to always had more than one job so he would be able to provide more than enough money for his family back in Haiti. Because of Benito, his wife and kids never struggled and made a great living for themselves. And by the grace of God all of his children ended up getting married and were able to gift Benito with thirty-four grandchildren. Rosemene had six children (Adler, Johnny, Maxy, Jacob, David & Joseph), Simelia had two children (Dorothie & Sarah) Benita had 4 (Roniel, Tamara, Nigheska), Bertony had ten children (Jaslen, Jessica, Hilda, Shantel, Anthony, Brianna, Rihanna, Jayden, Mariah, & Ashton), Aldo had eight children (Wadline, Wadlen, Fasnest, Samuel, Sandy, Kayeshia, & Farrah), Kethlene had four children (Winston, Trinity, Nia, Jerimiah). Benito also had the pleasure of meeting two of his great grandchildren before his death. One from Dorothie named Meava and one from Wadlen named Jordan. Benito loved his grandchildren very much. He always had fun and made sure they were taken care of.

Benito loved to read his bible, pray for and with others, spend time with family, laughed and always wear a smile on his face. Benito was a dedicated member of a men’s choir at First Born Again Baptist Church. In fact, sometimes Benito would often walk whenever he didn’t have a ride to the church. He was a loving and caring person to others, devoted husband, father, and friend, who always thought of others first. “To know him was to love him”. Although he will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him, we know he would not want us to mourn so much from his death. But instead we should rejoice that he has joined the lord and will no longer suffer on earth. Yes, we no longer will see him with our eyes nor touch him with our hands but we will feel him in our hearts forever.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
