Obituary

"Je suis la résurrection et la vie. Celui qui croit en moi vivra, quand même il serait mort."

Joseph Murat Lindor was born on November 5, 1935, in Morne A Brulee, Jacmel, Haiti. He was the third child among 15 siblings of Delicier Lindor and Christina Dabady. Despite growing up in poverty, Murat had a happy childhood and was known for his street smarts.

From a young age, Murat demonstrated a strong work ethic and a determination to make a better life for himself. At the age of 22, he left Jacmel and moved to Port-au-Prince, where he took on various odd jobs. Eventually, he decided to become an entrepreneur and started his own food retail store.
Murat's path to success was not easy, but his perseverance and hard work paid off. He quickly grew his retail business while also investing in real estate. He was the first among his siblings to become financially independent, and he inspired others in his community to follow in his footsteps.

At the age of 27, Murat decided to start a family. He returned to his hometown of Morne A Brulee and found the love of his life Natsila Lefevre. They were married shortly thereafter, and she became the mother of his children.

Despite facing many obstacles, Murat remained committed to his family and his community. He and his wife raised 8 biological children and provided a home for several other children from relatives and the neighborhood. At one point, there were over 15 people living in his house, and he was the sole provider for his household. He never shied away from helping his siblings or anyone else in need.

Murat was not only a successful entrepreneur and real estate investor, but he was also a dedicated family man and community leader. He instilled strong values in his children, emphasizing the importance of education, hard work, and helping others. Murat was a proud Haitian, and he was passionate about giving back to his community. He supported various charitable organizations that focused on education, healthcare, and economic development in Haiti.

Later in life, Murat enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing stories about his life and experiences. He was a beloved patriarch of his family and a respected figure in his community.

Murat passed away on February 23rd, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and compassion. Despite being born into poverty and lacking formal education, Murat's determination and work ethic allowed him to achieve great success. He was a self-made man who started his own business from scratch and grew it into a thriving enterprise. His impact on his family and community will be remembered for generations to come.
