Marie Souverain Obituary

Marie Elene Souverain was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti on the 15th of May in 1953 to Eloine Souverain.

During her early twenties, Marie was an established salesperson who traveled to many places to sell and buy merchandise. Some of those places included the Dominican Republic, Panama City, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Aruba, Curacao and the Turks and Caicos. In 1985, Marie migrated to the United States. She settled in Miami, FL and lived with her cousin Marie Julienne for some time. Over time, Marie established a life for herself and family by working at the Opa-Locka/Hialeah Flea Market as a merchandiser. There she met many people some of whom eventually became part of the family.

In 2001, Marie started working at Combined Services Inc, a healthcare products manufacturing company. She worked for 13 years before she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014. As a result of this debilitating condition, Marie was forced to retire. Marie did not let that stop her from making a living. If you knew Marie well, you would know she loved making money, even if it means taking our clothes and shoes to sell in a car.

Marie Elene Souverain was a member of Church of God Soul Seekers, the epitome of the virtuous woman depicted in Proverbs 31. She was wise, generous, compassionate, hardworking, and faithful. She loved the Lord. She loved her family (she definitely didn’t play about her grandkids). She also loved her friends and everyone she met. Known for her very kind and generous heart, throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.

Even with her health conditions, Marie was very optimistic about life. She lived every day with hope for another tomorrow. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2022, and Her life was never the same again. On Sunday November 5, 2023, Marie’s battle with Lupus, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure came to an end at Jackson North Hospital. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and even strangers helped carried her through these last eight (8) tough years of her life.
